Turamarama Creative Arts Project is created by young people for young people, to share their journey and wellbeing aspirations through creative arts.

Tūramarama ki te Ora: 'Bringing Light to the Dark' is a metaphor given by Maui Te Pou, Ngai Tūhoe, Ngāti Kauwhata. Maui explained that Tūramarama ki te Ora is a process of moving from the darkness to the light (Tūramarama), focusing our energy on our strengths (Ora) and less on deficit thinking.

This project is led by our rangatahi and supported by Te Runanga o Ngati Pikiao, Kia Piki te Ora project leaders.

Creativity is a way we tell our story share our journey and express our inner most feelings.

From the 23rd-29th of September 2019 an art exhibition will be held in the Rotorua CBD where young people can enter a piece of art to be a part of the exhibition.

With the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week being, 'Let Nature In' all art work will coincide with the connection between nature and wellbeing.

The exhibition will be open to the public, and will also provide information for our community on mental health and social services, as well as guest speakers discussing different wellbeing topics.

In the lead up to the exhibition, the Turamarama Creative Arts will provide six free creative arts workshops where young people between the ages of 12 and 21 can connect, learn tools for wellbeing and different art skills in preparation for the exhibition.

Your Boosted donation will contribute to us realising our project.
