THE GROUND WE WON is a new feature documentary from the award-winning filmmaking team Christopher Pryor and Miriam Smith. Miriam and Chris lived and filmed in Jerusalem/Hiruharama on the Whanganui River in New Zealand for a year, to make the critically acclaimed cinema documentary HOW FAR IS HEAVEN.

THE GROUND WE WON will be a cultural exploration of the values and exploits of a rural New Zealand rugby team. Again, the filmmakers are living within a small community for many months, this time following the highs and lows of the local rugby team over the 2013 rugby season. The rugby team consists of farmers whose ages range from 16 to 42, and while they may struggle to maintain team numbers, the men are strong in character and spirit. The filmmakers seek to explore what rural life and the "love of the game" means to these men as individuals and also for contemporary New Zealand society. Sir Colin Meads is the film's narrator. THE GROUND WE WON will hit the big screen in New Zealand in 2014.

Chris and Miriam are dedicated to creating truly unique films, through documenting contemporary social history and crafting these stories into compelling cinematic artworks.

Your donation will contribute to the film's post-production process, in order to complete THE GROUND WE WON to world class standards.

  • Thank you.

Thank you so much to all our donors for your generous donations!   However, as we have not reached our Boosted funding target your donations will soon be automatically refunded to you.   That said, we wanted to let you know that the film shoot is progressing brilliantly - it is a wonderful community, who we have now been filming with from the height of the summer drought to a now very wet and foggy winter.   In spite of the Boosted target having not been reached, The Ground We Won will still be completed to the highest standard - come rain or shine - to hit the big screen in 2014.    We look forward to inviting you to the premiere! Meanwhile, if you would like to keep updated, please like the film’s facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheGroundWeWon and/or sign up to the website mailing list - http://www.thegroundwewon.com.   Thanks again!   Miriam & Chris
