Stolen Stories is a contemporary fusion dance work reflecting on the complexities of life after phosphate mining in Banaba. A story taking place in 2019 focusing on what this historical event means for the descendants living in modernity and how past events are sustained in everyday life. Combining storytelling and Pacific dance to articulate the nuances of this actuality.

The following BOOSTED Campaign is to raise funds to go towards the production cost of my recent work entitled Stolen Stories. This work is created for the Pacific Dance Festival showcase called Moana, which is a collection of short works by upcoming performers and choreographers.

While this project is produced by the FAFSWAG arts collective it is also an independent project I'm asking my friends and family and community of networks to play an active role in supporting. As many of you will know the recent research published by Creative NZ and NZ on AIR has demonstrated the lack of resources afforded to Pacific Dancers in Aotearoa. Without the support of our generous community these works may not ever get to be seen.

Stolen Stories will run for two evenings in June and your help and support will go towards ensuring we can remunerate our performers for their hard work, creative and emotional labour and their commitment to telling uniquely Pacific stories. Pacific Dance Festival 2019 - Moana.
