We are MANU Collective, a project-based Pacific dance collective
that is aimed at giving tertiary dance students of Māori and
Pacific descent the opportunity to: network and collaborate with
each other, learn from one another, explore their cultural
ethnicities and heritage through Pacific-inspired contemporary
movement as well as undertake performance opportunities within New
Zealand and overseas.
This year, we have been given the opportunity to represent New
Zealand and the Pacific at the Macau International Youth Dance
Festival, along with over 600 dancers from over 20 countries.
We will be taking 16 talented performers, who are currently in
their third year of dance training and education at New Zealand's
top dance institutions: NZ School of Dance, UNITEC Dance and the
University of Auckland Dance Department. They will be led by 5
members of our leadership team who are choreographing, organising
logistics, and doing admin for the tour.
But we need your help! In order to make this trip as smooth as
possible, we are needing more financial support to help us
represent NZ and the Pacific on the world stage. We have sorted
flights, accommodation (excluding our final night in Hong Kong) and
per diems are given to our team members at the festival.
Your generous donations will help us cover our final night in Hong
Kong, our Pacific-inspired uniforms for our collective, our
costumes for our Pacific-Contemporary dance piece (created by
Velalula's Fashion) - to be performed at the festival, as well as
giving a mea alofa to some of our collaborators and contributors
for their work and support.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting us
to make this possible for our team.
