'Inscape - In Lights' will be an intimate live music and lights performance, and the first public performance of composer Lauren King's debut album 'Inscape'.

Lauren will be collaborating with lighting installation designers Alena Woo and Chloe Lassen to bring two art forms together (music and lighting), to enhance one another and create an inspiring and wondrous experience for the audience.

"Inscape is an album to simply admire and enjoy - one of those pieces of work that you know no matter how you approach it, words are never going to quite express the sheer pleasure of the listening experience" - Michael Alexander (Sunday Times) ★★★★★

'Inscape' was released in August 2015, and this year I'll be performing material from the album, live to an audience in Wellington for the first time. For this event I'll be collaborating with two Wellington interdisciplinary artists Alena Woo and Chloe Lassen, who have agreed to create a lighting installation especially for the event. Our goal is to bring these two art forms together to enhance one another, and to create an inspiring evening for an audience of live ambient music and lights.

  • Approaching the final push..!

A massive shout out to Whitireia Community Polytechnic, who have agreed to donate the use of their PA system for the event! Legends.

And thank you to the geneorus donors who have joined the project recently! G, Slim, Jazzy, Holly, Bazza, and Steffy :)

Alena, Chloe and Dan have been busy solidifying a concept for the installation over the past couple of weeks (I'll share some of the images they're using for inspiration below). It's so exciting to see the visual side of this project developing and to think about how this is all going to work as an experience for the audience!

    Approaching the final push..!

Introducing our newest member to the team!

Dan is a multidisciplinary designer, who can confidently translate big pictures across a variety of channels. While currently working at Wellington based design agency - Insight Creative, Dan applies his passion for user centric design with a polished and well crafted finish. Having worked as an in-house creative resource, freelancer and now an agency designer, Dan has a growing wealth of knowledge to draw from when approaching any creative challenge.

Chloe Lassen is a Wellington based experience designer. After graduating with a Visual Communication Design degree from Massey University, Chloe joined the team at Designworks and got to work with some of New Zealand’s most loved brands including Kiwibank, Air New Zealand and NZ Post. Currently working as a product designer at Xero, Chloe is passionate about creating elegant, human-centered solutions for complex problems. In her spare time she loves to express herself through painting and listening to music, so is very excited about bringing her two passions together for the Inscape performance piece.

Alena Woo is a digital and graphic designer for Te Kura, The Correspondence School. Previous work includes branding, print collateral and signage for a Christchurch based food truck company ‘The Dukes of Sandwich’ and she was also a part of the team responsible for ‘Potion Forest’ which featured in the Wellington LUX festival. Aside from Inscape, she is developing an app-based educational resource regarding Shanghainese business cultural practices of food etiquette and basic interaction.

  • Thank you!

A massive thank you to all the new donors who have jumped on board our project this week! Chris, James, Anna, Pony, Tim, Jade, and a couple of anonymous donors - your support is bringing us closer to the half way mark! We still have a wee way to go but will keep pushing hard!

This week we'll be introducing a new installation artist to the crew and profiling the design team, so you can meet some of the wonderful and talented creatives behind this project. They've been busy conceptualising the installation, which we're aiming to have locked in over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again for all your support so far, and if you know anyone who might be interested in joining us on this journey please help us by sharing the campaign with your networks!

    Arohanui :) x
