Tanaka is one of the 24 students selected from over 5500
secondary students to be members of the prestigious Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young
Shakespeare Company 2014 (SGCNZ YSC 2014). . This group of
young people, chosen to represent New Zealand, will travel to the
UK from 4-23 July 2014, where they will undertake intensive theatre
workshops and rehearsals culminating in the public performance of
an hour of a Shakespeare play on stage at Shakespeare's Globe,
During the three weeks they spend in the UK, they have the
opportunity to work with leading tutors and directors, see some of
England's best theatre practitioners and experience first-hand the
Globe Theatre and the new Sam Wanamaker Playhouse!
The students are challenged and stimulated to develop not only
their performance skills and knowledge of Shakespeare, history and
theatre, but also their ability to work collaboratively and
cooperatively, to manage their time and energy, to lead as well as
be part of a team, to support and accept support, to take
direction, to develop a life-long network of like-minded peers,
plus gain immeasurable self confidence through the whole
experience. There is also the bonus of performing on arguably the
most famous stage in the world.
Selection to SGCNZ YSC 2014 means students must raise approx
$8500 to cover all their costs - this includes international and
domestic travel and taxes, insurance, course fees, accommodation,
meals, theatre tickets and incidental expenses.
By helping support Tanaka you will realise the impact this
experience will have on the life of this talented teenager and that
he in turn will have on others.

Taranaki Sheilah Winn Shakespeare festival is on the 16 of April. Nice sunny day here in New Plymouth. Had the boys come over for a rehearsal out on the lawn. Looking dapper.
We Made It!
Thanks to your support and generous donations through cash, direct credit or credit card payment we've reached the goal! Thank you all so much for getting involved! We've done well! I say 'we' because even though I'm the one physically going, you are the ones who have supported me as I've developed my skills in my craft over the years and have given me encouragement and constructive criticism as well. The Taranaki community will be on my mind when I wonder the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon and step on the Globe Stage in July and what I learn from this experience will definitely be put to good use when I return. It's only fair that I give back to the community that's gotten me to where I am. Once again, thank you all so much! Remember, what goes around comes around so I'm sure you'll receive some blessing for being so giving and selfless.

The Taranaki Sheilah Winn Festival is approaching and I'll be working on and directing a 5 minute piece and performing in a 15 minute teacher directed scene. So I'm quite busy at the moment! Just thought I'd take a look at the Boosted project and I was surprised to see that we're now at 54%! Wow! Thank you all so much! You have no idea how much this means! Love goes out to all of you lovely people!
