Hello! My name is India, and I am one of 24 students selected from over 5000 secondary students chosen to represent New Zealand as part of the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company 2018 (SGCNZ YSC).

In July I'll be travelling to London for intensive theatre workshops and rehearsals with some of Britain's best theatre practitioners, culminating in a performance on the Globe stage!

SGCNZ YSC is a comprehensive and exciting 'package' of theatre and personal development opportunities. Based mostly at Shakespeare's Globe, the two-week course comprises workshops, Q&As, watching performances and rehearsals, plus behind-the-scenes tours of the Globe, Rose and National theatres, Royal Albert Hall, walking tours and a reception hosted by the New Zealand High Commissioner.

During my time at the Globe, I am extremely fortunate to work with the Globe's leading theatre practitioners, tutors and directors, one of whom will take SGCNZ YSC for rehearsals of scenes from one of Shakespeare's plays. We will have the amazing opportunity of performing for the public on the Globe stage on 19 July.

I am so excited to be pushed in not only my performance but also my ability to work collaboratively, to manage my time and energy, to lead and be part of a team, to support and accept support, to take direction, to develop a life-long network of like-minded peers, and gain immeasurable self confidence through the whole experience. I cannot wait to perform and modernise Shakespeare with this exciting group of young actors!

SGCNZ YSC 2018 has a cost of approximately $8750 to cover international and domestic travel and taxes, insurance, course fees, accommodation, meals, theatre tickets and incidental expenses. Whilst this is challenging, to quote Shakespeare himself, "If money go before, all ways do lie open." The benefits of SGCNZ YSC far outweigh the cost, but I need your help to get there!

I will be posting journal entries on this Boosted page with any developments during the funding process and my thoughts and feelings about the final experience. If you would like to see photos and updates during my YSC journey please follow me on Instagram at indi__rose or Facebook at India Lawrence. I cannot wait to share my journey with you!

Thank you for your support!
