About the Artist:

Ufitia Sagapolutele is a New Zealand-born Samoan woman, born and raised in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Ufitia is a creative artist, choreographer and dancer who interweaves Siva Samoa, Hip-Hop and Contemporary dance together.

Ufitia began her dance career as a dancer in world-renowned dance company 'The Royal Family' and silver medalists 'Sorority'. From then, Ufitia decided to take a different path and has created dance works that have been performed at the Auckland Art Gallery, Te Papa Museum, Auckland War Memorial Museum, New Zealand Portrait Gallery, Tempo Dance Festival, and Pacific Dance Festival to name a few.

Ufitia has a Master of Dance Studies degree and Postgraduate Diploma of Dance from the University of Auckland. Ufitia also has a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Performing Arts) from Manukau Institute of Technology. Ufitia is currently the Auckland Project Coordinator for Dance Aotearoa New Zealand, working on projects to create opportunities for dance artists in New Zealand especially for the Pacific dance community.

Ufitia has been blessed with the opportunity to present a work/talk in South Korea next week. This is also an opportunity with a leading arts centre to speak about future opportunities to bring dancers from Aotearoa to present works from and Oceanic perspective.

What this covers:

Because this project is around the corner and I was asked to do this a few days ago, I haven't had time to prepare for this trip in advance as much as I would have loved to. This is a self-funded trip so I've had to quickly find funds to go towards it. So I have created this campaign because I would love your help. The funds will go towards accommodation, food, and transport around South Korea.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and support my mahi (work).

Fa'afetai tele lava,

Ufitia Sagapolutele
