Originally from Portland Oregon, and known for her haunting voice and melancholic piano ballads; Nicole is now an official Kiwi and lives in Wellington, where she has gained recognition as an up and coming artist to watch out for.
Her debut album, In the Shallows, was released in February 2015 with the support of Creative New Zealand, and garnered support from such New Zealand performers as David Long (The Mutton Birds), Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol) and Thomas Voyce (Rhombus).
In the Shallows has been described as “Simple, stripped back, yet incredibly solid” by NZ Musician Magazine; and Listener Magazine said “for those who like their femininity fierce and fearless the pace doesn’t stop until Andrews calls Time at the end.” The album was featured on RadioActive as the Preview Album of the Week, and continues to be playlisted on select radio stations across New Zealand.
Now in the wake of this release, Nicole has been writing the music for her upcoming sophomore album, which she has teamed up with Thomas Voyce (Rhombus) to produce. Moving away from the piano driven sounds she is known for, this second album incorporates more of an electronic feel, writing primarily on synthesiser. Release date expected in 2017.
