MANU PROJECT NEW ZEALAND
We are MANU, a project-based Pacific dance collective that is aimed at giving undergraduate and recent graduate tertiary dance students of Māori and Pacific descent the opportunity to: network and collaborate with each other, learn from one another, and explore their cultural heritage through Pacific-inspired contemporary movement. We are a kaupapa and dance group underpinned by indigenous Pacific and Māori morals such as family, collectivity, love and respect.
In undertaking these performance opportunities we travel both within New Zealand and internationally. This year, we have been given the opportunity to represent New Zealand and the Pacific in two different international festivals. Being fortunate to bring to life New Zealand contemporary professional dancers/choreographers Eddie Elliott and Bianca Hyslop artistic visions on stage, we will be taking two separate teams in July 2019 to perform in Macau, China and Hawai'i.
