New Zealand School of Dance

The New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD) is recognised as one of the Southern Hemisphere's leading dance conservatoires. Established in 1967, it has become New Zealand’s foremost training establishment for classical and contemporary dancers. Students train full time towards two or three year qualifications and to prepare for careers as professional dancers. The NZSD also runs Aspirational programmes for younger dancers with promise. The school has an outstanding faculty of teaching staff and regularly hosts guest tutors from around the world. Graduates have gone on to make significant contributions to the dance world, dancing with companies such as the Royal New Zealand Ballet, The New Zealand Dance Company, West Australian Ballet, Australian Dance Theatre, National Ballet of Canada, Footnote New Zealand Dance, Houston Ballet II, Dancenorth, Queensland Ballet, Co3, The Australian Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, Chunky Move, English National Ballet, Atamira Dance Company and Black Grace to name a few.
