Neal works in all aspects of theatre in Wellington - from design and direction, to production and stage management, to technicial and publicity. He graduated from the University of Otago with a BA(Hons) - English in 2006 and a PGDip Arts - Theatre in 2008. During his time at Otago, he began acting in many productions at the Globe Theatre and Allen Hall Theatre. He quickly realised he was much happier behind the scenes!
Neal moved to Wellington in 2012. He wasn't involved with much theatre until 2014 when he played Saturninus in Fresh Dada's production of "Titus Andronicus". He also worked on two Summer Shakespeare productions - 2015 and 2016 - doing lighting, publicity, and production management. Other notable achievements include Lead Stage Management for the Caryl Churchill Season of Plays (BATS, 2016), Stage Manager for the premiere of Lorae Parry's "Scarlet and Gold" (Circa, 2016), Stage Manager for "Destination Beehive" (Circa, 2017), and Technical Operation for a national tour of "Bill Massey's Tourists" (2017).
Neal also ushers for BATS Theatre, Circa, Hannah Playhouse, and Venues Wellington.
