Based in National Genre Visual Art

Joni Murphy

I am a full-time artist in Taranaki. As a young person growing up in our beautiful area there was so much around me to find inspiring. I am passionate about sharing the joy of art and encouraging everyone to express their true inner creativity. I believe we are all deeply, wonderfully and uniquely creative beings and this is where our ture essence shines.
My journey into teaching art began three yrs ago when local schools asked me to facilitate art workshops within the classrooms, providing creative support to teachers. This soon evolved, with needs of children and parents, into after-school classes and youth workshops in many places throughout Taranaki.
I now facilitate many creative classes through two businesses I am establishing, The Social Studio and Taranaki Creative Kids. I facilitate creative work with at-risk youth, and run art workshops for children and adults all around New Zealand. I have a Dip. Art & Creativity from The Learning Connexion, where I am studying again as an adult student towards my Hons. degree. I have recently completed the Art and Wellbeing Certificate through Taruna College, and next year will be continuing my studies with a Post Graduate Course in Anthoposophical Art Therapy. I am supported by my two wonderful children and husband who encourage me and bring joy everyday.
