Pietra is known for telling unique, intimate, cinematic films. She relishes her sense of curiosity, and finds herself in the career of her dreams – glimpsing into the worlds of others, across culture, language, gender, religion, to celebrate diversity.
Her most recent film A FLICKERING TRUTH was the New Zealand selection for the Best Foreign Language section of the Academy Awards. And her 2008 film THE ART STAR AND THE SUDANESE TWINS won the World Cinema Documentary Editing Award at Sundance Film Festival and screened in over 100 film festivals.

Pietra has in her career been supported by the New Zealand Film Commission, the Sundance Institute, Gucci Tribeca Fund, BritDoc and the Binger Film Lab.
