Arani is an award-winning producer who has made some of NZ’s most popular TV entertainment shows and produced The Topp Twins, Untouchable Girls, NZ’s highest grossing documentary film. The film won Best Feature and Best Music at the 2009 Qantas NZ Film and TV Awards, the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival the same year and more than 20 other international awards, selling to Australia, North America, Netherlands, Japan and the UK.
Since establishing Diva Productions as an artist management company twenty years ago, for New Zealand’s well-loved entertainers, the TOPP TWINS, Arani has grown the company into a diverse entertainment business, producing television, promoting live shows, launching a talent agency and developing high quality, entertaining and engaging stories for large and small screens.
In 2010 Arani received the Women in Film and TV Award for Outstanding Achievement and a Producer Award from the NZ Film Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auckland University, studied Film and TV Producing at Australia’s AFTRS college, and was selected for Art Venture in 2008, a business accelerator course for creative entrepreneurs.
Recent work includes TOPP COUNTRY, one of TVNZ's top-rating shows, now in its third season and described as “truly outstanding Television” (The NZ Herald); How Mr and Mrs Gock Saved the Kumara, a LOADING DOCS short, partially funded via Boosted, and KIWIS ON BOARD, a series of short films about Refugees for the NZ Red Cross. She is currenly developing a UK/NZ co-pro WHO KILLED HILDA? with Oscar-nominated UK company Spring Films as co-producer.
