Proudly Asian Theatre
Proudly Asian Theatre is an Auckland based theatre company dedicated to giving a voice to Asian artists in New Zealand.
Founded in 2013 by James Roque and Chye-Ling Huang, PAT has produced a number of successful shows, run workshops and is now branching out into film with producers Kelly Gilbride and Ruby Reihana-Wilson.
PAT productions include the first New Zealand production of David Henry Hwang's Obie Award winning play FOB at The Basement in 2013. In 2014 PAT produced a sold-out season of Renee Liang's Lantern at The Musgrove as part of the Auckland Lantern Festival. Later in the year, they took home four awards including Best Independent Theatre Company and Best Director at the 2014 Short+Sweet Festival for their piece Call of the Sparrows, which was fully funded for a development season at The Herald theatre in 2016.
