New Zealand Secondary Students' Choir
Established in 1986 as the national choir for secondary students, NZSSC has a vision to: “extend secondary students’ chorale excellence and to develop their leadership capabilities as key contributors to the New Zealand arts sector”.
Around 60 members join the choir through nation-wide auditions every second year. The current musical director is Andrew Withington of Christchurch, who is undertaking his doctorate in choral pedagogy at the University of Canterbury. The choir is registered as a charitable trust governed by a Board of Trustees, chaired by Linda Webb.
NZSSC is the feeder choir for other national choirs, including the New Zealand Youth Choir.
