I am part Samoan, part Maori and live in Whakatane in the sunny Bay of Plenty.
Up until this time, my art work has been a personal journey of discovery of my two cultures. I completed 2 years of a Visual Arts degree at Awanuiarangi before becoming unwell with depression. I was unable to complete my degree but have used art and what I had learnt as part of my recovery from mental illness. Art continues to be a big part of my life and I would like to start to show my art work publically for the first time.
This is only the second time that I have put my artwork in the public arena and in a competition. The first time I used a limited budget and basic resources that were available to me at the time. This year I would like to have better quality resources available to create a picture of high quality.
