LUX, in partnership with Massey University and
Wellington City Council, is a
city-wide celebration of light, space and interaction. Composed of
a symposium, exhibition programme and events, LUX is a winter
festival for Wellington.
About this project
Wellington LUX 2013 is well on its way to
being realised for this year with 17 artworks being displayed over
four days around the city centre. This will be accompanied by a
two-day symposium taking place in the City Gallery and a BYOB
(Bring Your Own Beamer) night.
We want LUX to be an
iconic annual event for Wellington city. It has the
potential to create a vibrant community based experience that
will brighten up the winter nights, and at a large enough
scale could be of significant economic benefit to the
region. The Vivid Light Festival in Sydney is an example of
what can be achieved.
With the generous financial support
of Wellington City Council and Massey University we are
delighted to be hosting a number of very special designers at the
festival this year, but we want to make this a truly
spectacular event. With your additional assistance we would
like to extend our programme, exhibiting more artists and offering
more events for the community to enjoy in this celebration of
light in the darkness of mid winter.
