This Boosted campaign enables more than 2,500 Christchurch School students (and their supervising staff) to attend free school matinees of Tiki Taane Mahuta at Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal. We want to play our part in rejuvenating the Christchurch spirit after the earthquakes destroyed the larger theatre venues 4 years ago. Let's rebuild the wairua of Cantabrian students, bringing them into the City Centre for powerful entertainment.

Tiki Taane and Tanemahuta Gray have partnered to create this New Zealand narrative production combining Aerial Dance Theatre with Maaori Contemporary Martial Arts and Hip Hop.

Catch a 5 minute promo of the show on YouTube.

Tiki Taane Mahuta depicts the story of two New Zealand families across two generations and the tragedy, hope and joy that connect them. The narrative is reflected in three distinct time periods, 1996, 2013 and the ancestral realm that oversees them. This realm stars Christchurch based Uekaha Taane Tinorau (Tiki's father) and is created using sweeping film projections by the World of Wearable Art Design Team. The majority of the cast, crew and production team also perform in WOW.

The story emerges from Tiki Taane's albums "Past, Present, Future" and "In the World of Light" and will be presented at the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch with two school matinees and 4 public shows from May 7-9, 2015.

This production has the support of the AMP - People's Choice Scholarship which Tanemahuta was the recipient of, and support from the Ngaai Tahu Cultural Grants Fund. If every voter for the AMP Scholarship put in $10, then we would surpass our $30,000 target and more than 2500 students will be in for a huge treat!

Those who are NZ residents can also claim 33% tax credit on their end of year donations towards this charitable and philanthropic cause.

Nga mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa mo to tautoko ki teenei kauapa! Thank you for extending a hand of support to our Christchurch whaanau!

  • We did achieve the most donaters in Boosted's history

    Kia Ora Koutou,

I have just had a word with Simon Bowden the CEO of Boosted, and although we have not reached our target, he did say that the amount of donors that came onboard is the highest number they have had since they started running this crowd-funding campaign.

That is really cool to know! So atleast we made another bit of history over this campaign mission.

Into the last 4 hours, and thank you for your support as always!

  • Thanks for all your support my waka whaanau

E aku nui, e aku rahi, tena koutou katoa.

As we ride into the final day of the campaign, I would love to extend a huge bouquet of thanks to the 123 contributors who have helped to get us over the $5,600 mark for our Christchurch youth. To know that your actions and whakaaro (thoughts) have been made with the biggest of hearts, to make a difference in the lives of our Christchurch youth is humbling to know how many people are with me on this journey.

Baring an angel donater miracle in the next 15 hours, it is unlikely that we will reach our target, and the funds will be returned. However, my determination to get this production to the people of Christchurch and play our part in the revitalisation of the spirit there continues.

Over this campaign period I have been able to entice "Fendalton Capital" to come onboard as our Associate sponsor, to go alongside "Ngaai Tahu" as our Naming Rights sponsor. So it allows us to take another big step towards realising the dreams of staging the world premiere in Christchurch.

The other big sponsorship offer has come from Go Media, who are offering 3 billboards and 10 bus panels of free advertising space ($49,500 value), for us to promotoe the show down there. We will be working hard to find more sponsors who can jump onboard this fabulously generous offer by Go Media. It is the partnerships that can make these dreams come to fruition.

But as they say, the show ain't over until the fat lady sings! And she will be humming her tune at midnight tonight, so we will be pushing it right to the end to increase our kaihoe (waka crew)of support!

Anei ra te mihi mahana ki a koutou!

With respect, humbleness and gratitude for your koha.

  • Final week push for the campaign

    Kia Ora my amazing supporters!

Firstly a huge thanks to the 107 of you who have donated on this Boosted campaign, and the 4 who have supported via internet banking. It is so humbling to have had 111 join the waka, as we enter into our final week of the campaign.

I also bring some exciting news on other fronts, as we now have an Associate Sponsor "Fendalton Capital" come onboard to help support us into Christchurch. So having "Ngaai Tahu" as our Naming Rights sponsor and Fendalton Capital as our Associate sponsor is a huge coup for our whaanau to achieve.

I would like to thank you all in advance for the sharing and communicating with friends and contacts about this campaign, and helping us grow our whaanau to walk the journey with us towards achieving our ambitious targets of providing more than 2500 Christchrch students to see the show for free. We are just shy of 450 students currently, so a big push required this final week!

  • 19 Days to go! But we have hit double figures!

    Kia Ora koutou,

Thank you to all of the 82 donors who have helped us make it to the 10% mark of our target. Yes it is a huge target still to tackle in our final 19 day countdown, but I will be working hard to continue spreading the word far and wide within my contacts base. If any of you can support that by connecting with your base of friends, and find 10 sponsors each, then we could possibly turn 10% into 100% in the final days of this campaign. (And have 820 onboard the kaupapa).

With the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that has hit Arthur's Pass West of Christchurch a few days back, it certainly shows that this type of opportunity still has value on our Mainland / Te Waipounamu communities who are having to maintain a stoic resilience.

For those of you who haven't taken the chance to catch a broader glimpse of the show (beyond the 5 min promo), feel free to view our full pilot video on this You Tube link.

  • Happy New Year to you all!!!

Hari Tau Hoou ki a koutou! Happy New Year!

I hope you have all had a fabulous New Years Celebration with your whaanau and friends!!! I am looking forward to sharing a fanatastic 2015 with you all, and I am thrilled to have had 60 of you jump onboard the waka thus far! :-)

I have just put up a Facebook Events page for this Boosted campaign titled "Free Aerial Theatre Show 4 Christchurch Youth". For those of you on this page who I know have joined via my Facebook connections, I have added you as a HOST, so if you were happy to join this page, then you can very easily "invite" other friends to join the waka and support it alongside yourselves to reach out to thousands more potential "waka whaanau". This is a much faster way to spread the word to numerous others about this campaign. The link to the FB page is below (copy and paste the url below into your search engine box maybe the best way to get to the invitation page). Otherwise if already on FB, and a friend of mine you should be getting an invite shortly!!!

  • Meri Kirihimete me He Hari Tau Hou / Merry Christmas Everyone

As the evening of Christmas Eve approaches us, I would love to extend a wonderful Festive Holiday greetings to you all, and a chance to grab some special moments with your whaanau and friends over this time of rest, recuperation, recharge and reflection.

It is incredible to have 43 join this waka (and 2 more via internet banking support), and it certainly is humbling to know that there are many more helping to row this waka to Christcurch.

We have exciting news to finish the year off. Tiki Taane Mahuta has secured itself a "Naming Rights Sponsor" with Ngai Taahu coming onboard to guide this waka into its shores and up the Avon into the Isaac Theatre Royal. It is a vital partnership that we need to help turn this dream into a reality! Ngai Taahu have taken up such a leading role in the re-build of Christchurch by offering so many sub-divisions for re-building, and now they continue that incredible mantle to help forge a future partnership with us and play a huge role in furthering the rejuvenation of the city and bringing the Christchurch wider community back into the City Centre.
