Featuring performances by Matty Visser & Andrew Fidow.

The majority of Scruff was filmed on-location around Christchurch in February 2014, with Sabin Holloway as cinematographer. The footage gained from this initial shoot was extremely successful in capturing post-earthquake Christchurch through the eyes of a precocious teenage boy, Amon.

After being sent home from high-school, Amon embarks on a day-long (or rather overnight...) journey of self-discovery, with the help of a little naiveté and a mobile-phone dating App.

Scruff has received a Fresh Shorts grant in 2013 from The New Zealand Film Commission, and with the money raised from this Boosted campaign we will be able to film the final scenes on the 1st and 2nd of August this year.

The $3000 in pledges we hope to secure from Boosted will go toward the cost of camera equipment and lens hire, as well as paying the two lead actors. To date, most members of the cast and crew have participated in this project without reimbursement.

Scruff features an original soundtrack by local musician, Misfit Mod and boasts a cast & crew of talented Christchurch locals.

Trying my luck at crowd-sourcing was a daunting thought three weeks ago. As the film (now formerly known as), Scruff enters the final week of its Boosted campaign- I am delighted with the support we have received so far. The memories you have shared with me, of our encounters and collaborations (some from even 15 years ago!) have been truly inspiring, and a brilliant reminder of the importance & emotions we attach to our creative works.

Your donations (totalling $2,345.00, as of this morning!) demonstrate a confidence in this project that is truly remarkable and generous. To see that there is already an eager audience building is the greatest thing ever.

If you'd like to help finish this short film there are 7 days left, and we're counting down! Every contribution (of any size) really does make a difference. Below is a link to a brief video-update. It illustrates another way you can support (the film now formerly known as) Scruff.

To the 47 donors so far - My immense and heart-felt THANKS! I look forward to showing you this short film soon.
