Since 2007 the Waiheke Community Art Gallery has provided a biennial Residency Programme to artists outside of the Auckland area. For 2014  well-known New Zealand artist Euan MacLeod will lead a group of professional artists who have often worked together in diverse communities to participate in this year's residency.  The artists include Idris Murphy, Amanda Penrose Hart, Elisabeth Cummings, Peter and Susan O'Doherty, Steve Lopes, Joe Frost, Chris O'Doherty  (aka Reg Mombassa). This group will spend two weeks on Waiheke producing work for an exhibition at Easter 2014. Artist in Residence patrons have enabled the Waiheke Community Art Gallery to commit to the program.

We now seek additional support to secure several rental cars as transport for them. The group arrive on Sunday April 6.

As both Reg Mombassa and Peter O'Doherty are both musicians from 'Dog Trumpet' and formerly 'Mental As Anything' music as well as paintings will feature in the residency with a one off jam session on Saturday 12 April.

Every contribution from $5 to $50 makes a huge difference, we need to reach our goal of $2000 to recieve it, we can't have our visitors hopping around the island when there is a lot of painting and exploring to do and getting to know the Waiheke and wider Auckland community.

Make sure you come on over to see the exhibition at the gallery from 17 April - 19 May, we look forward to seeing you.

The gallery is a non - profit organization and a registered charity.
