My big step to Blenheim

I am following my childhood dream to work as an artist. Last year I graduated from the Dunedin School of Art with a Bachelor of Visual Arts. I am dedicated to sharing my art with the world and this is my next big step of that journey.

After winning the The Peters Doig Art Award in Marlborough, I have been invited to have my first solo art exhibition at the Yealands Estate Gallery in Blenheim, Marlborough for two weeks in November this year.

I am currently creating a body of work for my exhibition called "Cut to the Chase" which is a collection of mixed media collage works that I build from tiny components of hand cut and torn textured papers. They include simplified naive figures of people and animals that are part of my world.  The bringing together of the characters in each artwork is a moment in time when our paths cross with others. Some are playful and humorous while others represent the toils and troubles that pepper ones life.

My goal is to create 15 images in the lead up to the exhibition which all going well will open on 29th October.
Because of the use of many types of paper in my collage works they need to be framed under glass in order to protect them. They then need to be freighted from Dunedin to Blenheim, ready for hanging in my exhibition. This is where you can help me in my quest to raise $4000 to cover the framing and freighting costs and by doing so you will become part of my journey to make my first solo exhibition a reality.

If you like my work and would like to help me on my journey, please hit the donate button. Please like and share my posts with all your friends. You can also get a tax rebate on any donations.

I want to thank you in advance for any donation - no matter how big or small to help me achieve my dream. I want to share that journey with you and will keep you posted with little snippets of my processes along the way.
