Take 4 good looking, hip swaying, suave Maori guys crooning a mix of modern day & classic songs in Te Reo and English and you get: The Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ).

Maaka Pohatu, Matariki Whatarau, James Tito & Matu Ngaropo are Toi Whakaari/NZ Drama School graduates who have established theatre careers with a combination of over 20 years in the industry.

Initially driven by the need to make money in between acting gigs - the idea of the Quartet was born.

The creative love child of Flight of the Conchords, Prince Tui Teka, The Māori Volcanics & The Quin Tikis, the MMQ have devised and collaborated an entertaining and compelling show & are now ready to expose themselves to NZ and beyond.

Funding will allow us to complete a full production in Auckland and tour nationally.

We have some funding towards a full production but require more support to cover a shortfall to successfully complete our season and build on interest to tour.

    Kia ora,

My name is James Tito a member of MMQ. Am writing on behalf of the boys to let you everyone know what we have been upto!

We have been real busy as of late, we had a awesome appereance on Te Karere, interviewed by the amazing Raiha Johns (Matariki's cousin).

We also performed on Good Morning which you can find the link in the previous update!

Good Morning loved us so such that we performed on there again yesterday interviewed by Matai Smith, it was great and won't air until Maori Language Week May 4th. Our Boosted campaign will have finished by then and we would have reached our target :) -optimist!

Tonight us boys are performing at a Maori Party event in Cornwall which we are gearing up for. We will make sure to whakangahau/entertain MMQ style ;)

Awesome things are happening for us and we would love to share this journey with the people of Aotearoa. Noreira...

Keep sharing our project and what we are trying to achieve with whanau and friends, much thanks in advance.
