Kokomai Creative Festival loves Julia Deans and we love Joni Mitchell too. We are bringing Julia Deans (from fronting 'Fur Patrol', to co-conspirator with renowned supergroup 'The Adults') over to the Wairarapa to sing Joni Mitchell's legendary songbook.  Having Julia Deans as part of our Festival gets our hearts racing and if it also excites you then we invite you to be part of it.

We have heavily subsidised the tickets to this show so that it is accessible to everyone.  However we need a little help in covering the costs of this incredible show.  The $6,000 target will go towards the costs of this world class production.

Our Festival Director, Heidi Holbrook saw Julia Deans in 'Both Sides Now' at the Wanaka Arts Festival earlier this year.

"It was truly an emotional experience, I was mesmerised from the second she stepped on stage, just like everyone around me.  Julia created a spectacular night of magic, it's a performance I'll never forget; the raucous standing ovation at the end said it all.  I knew I had to do everything I could to bring her to the Wairarapa"

Julia Deans and her four-piece band will have audiences entranced with Joni Mitchell's songs from 1969-1983.  This amazing night will include these songs;

Chelsea Morning

All I Want

Cactus Tree

Help Me

Rainy Night House

Blue

The Fiddle and the Drum

Woodstock

Little Green

The Last Time I Saw Richard

Amelia

A Case of You

Song for Sharon

I Don't Know Where I Stand

Blonde in the Bleachers

Trouble Child

The Circle Game

Both Sides Now

River

NZ Herald - "Julia Deans is a revelation:  A soaring voice matched by charismatic storyteller's knack"

Theatreview - "You'll join the standing ovation at the end and get treated to a dramatic interpretation of 'River' that gives you the chills.  You'll think Julia is so friggin' cool, and she's got such great hair to boot.  You'll be glad you got the ticket."

Our Festival is an explosion of world-class entertainment, held biennially in October over 10 days, right across the Wairarapa region.  It is something for us to enjoy and build together.

Integral in fuelling our region's economy through accommodation, food, beverage and tourism the Festival also bring communities together, and most importantly it encourages our youth to dream big.
