The 4th World Art Games (WAG) is being held in Slavonski Brod, Croatia in August 2017, and I need your help to get there!

My name is Jules Hunt and I am a NZ born, Wellington-based artist. I have an eclectic range of creative interests - sculpture, photography, installation, mixed media and bronze work through to marionette making, just to name a few!

Predominantly what drives my creative interest as an artist is process and materiality. It takes you on a journey into the unknown, you never know where the process of exploration and discovery will lead you, but most certainly it will be off the beaten track, and I really love that.

Photography is a medium I both enjoy and rely on as an artist. At times it is the only evidence of my work or the discoveries that I make in the process, and at times the image is stronger than the work itself. I have always struggled with drawing and painting, and have recently been exploring these areas, experimenting with using non-traditional drawing tools and creating materials to read as paint.

I like to participate in opportunities with the public that enable access to the arts and have been involved with many creative projects in the wider Wellington community. I am inspired and influenced by artists such as Richard Sera, Eva Hesse, Fiona Hall and Louise Bourgeois - all artists inspired by the art of art-making.

WAG is an international art network of over 65 countries around the world, including New Zealand. Every two years committees select a group of artists across all art forms to come together and celebrate art, culture and creativity on an international stage. I have previously attended the first WAG in 2013 (Croatia), the second in 2015 (Slovakia), and the third in 2016 (Montenegro) when I successfully won the photography category.

At the Games  I will be participating in a public art battle alongside artists from Mexico, Ethiopia and Morroco, as well as collaborating with Norway on an environmental art installation and running a giant bubble making workshop for the WAG artists.

Your generous donations will go a long way to helping me cover some of my travel costs, and give me a great "BOOST" on the international art stage.

Thanks for taking the time to find out more about my project.
