Michelle Savill and Matt Henley of Little Friend
Matt Henley has been working as a director of photography in Wellington for the last five years shooting short films, music videos, special effects/animation and commercials. His work has been screened at Cameraimage, Clermont-Ferrand, NZIFF and Locarno.
Michelle Savill’s short film ELLEN IS LEAVING won the Best Narrative Short Film Award at SXSW Film Festival and in May won the Golden Gate Award for Best Narrative Short at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
Since then it has been screened in prestigious international festivals, which include Clermont-Ferrand, Chicago International, LA Shorts, Rhode Island, and Aspen Shortsfest.
After completing her Bachelor of Media Arts with Honours, Michelle’s student film BETTY BANNED SWEETS was accepted into several high profile, international film festivals including Melbourne International Film Festival 2008 where she was invited to participate in the festival’s Accelerator programme.
BETTY BANNED SWEETS went on to screen at Gijon International Film Festival 2008, Aspen Shortsfest 2009, International Festival of Rotterdam 2009, Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009 and as well as screening in competition at the 2009 Clermont-Ferrand International Festival 2009, the film also opened the festival.
In 2011, Michelle was awarded a Script-to-Screen scholarship to spend three months in New York working as an intern in the script development department of Killer Films, a company at the forefront of independent American cinema headed by producers Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler.
