About Common-Unity Productions

Common-Unity Films represents the husband-wife partnership of Anton and Kylie Steel. Anton and Kylie have two children and enjoy living a dynamic and creative life in the Bay of Plenty. Both are passionate about finding the gold in people, sustainable living and pursuing dreams.

Anton Steel has been involved in the Film industry as a Director, Assistant Director and Producer for over 16 years. His directing experience includes TV Commercials, Short Films, Feature Films, Documentaries and magazine style TV shows.

Anton has employed his creativity in some wonderful projects. His most recent piece Living Life Well is an award winning mini doco about how NGO Pou Whakaaro, is giving a hand up to people living with disabilities. Other pieces he has directed include the safe@home campaign for Shine (an NGO combating domestic violence), the Green Parties 2011 TVC Election campaign, the award winning short film Isosceles and he was the producer/2nd Unit Director on the critically acclaimed Feature Film The Insatiable Moon.

Kylie DellaBarca Steel has a variety of skills and experience that enable her to balance logistics & implementation with community and creativity.

As the founder of the charitable trust Fruit of the Pacific, Kylie has most recently been working with short-term migrants travelling from the Pacific into NZ horticultural industries. The Trust provides community development training and its successful programmes include workshops on Asset Based Community Development and an Oral Health Awareness team with nationwide reach in Vanuatu.

Before establishing the Trust, Kylie’s work focused on logistics and management. Her work in the film industry included employment as 1st Assistant Director for award winning NZ Director, Vincent Ward, in “Rain of the Children” and recruiting and managing 450 Ni Vanuatu migrants in the kiwifruit industry.
